Spruce Cabin
Spruce cabin was built in the spring of 1991. Like its neighbor White Pine cabin, it was built offsite, in Grand Marais, and then transported to Gunflint Lake to be reconstructed. Greg, Cousin Myrl, and our friend Rod finished the work on the first cabin, then crossed the road to repeat the process on Spruce. We also brought in a few extra friends near to opening, to get all of the jobs completed.
When Greg was designing this cabin, he decided to put a balcony off of the front bedroom. It's a great place to hide out with your morning cup of coffee, carry on conversations with the songbirds, whatever. Greg does, you don't have to.
Entering the cabin, you walk into a large living room-kitchen-dining area. A fireplace woodstove occupies a corner, and warms the cabin on a chilly evening. The cabin is also heated with a gas furnace.
The kitchen is completely outfitted for preparing meals. We even provided a rolling pin, in case you would like to make a pie when the blueberries are ripe. At the holidays, the oven easily has roasted a goose for the last twenty years.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. Each room has a queen size bed, and a trundle bed set, consisting of two twins. This provides ample room for a large group.
In addition to the second-floor balcony, Spruce has a large deck looking down towards the lake. It is a wonderful place to rest after a busy day of hiking or canoeing.

Base rates are for two people, per night or per week.
Children ages 5-16 are half the adult rate, after the first two people.
Under 5 years, no charge. We have cribs and a high chair for your convenience.
